| What | When it’s due |
|---|---|
| Most individuals: file and pay | April 30 |
| Self-employed and their spouses: file | June 15 |

Haven’t filed in a while?
The sooner, the better. Penalties and interest grow, and CRA can assess you without your input. We gather what’s missing, file the returns, and advise whether a voluntary disclosure is worth applying for.
Common questions
When is my personal tax return due if I’m self-employed?
If you (or your spouse or common-law partner) earned self-employment income, the filing deadline is June 15. Any balance owing is still due April 30, and interest starts after that date.
What can I deduct if I’m self-employed?
Reasonable expenses you incur to earn business income, such as supplies, phone, software, advertising, professional fees, and a share of home office and vehicle costs if you meet CRA’s conditions. Keep receipts and a vehicle log; they’re the first thing CRA asks for.
I haven’t filed for a few years. What now?
Call us before CRA does. We collect your slips from CRA, rebuild income and expenses, and file the missing years. If you qualify, a voluntary disclosure can reduce penalties.
How long do I need to keep my business records?
Generally six years from the end of the last tax year the records relate to. Keep them longer if you’ve filed an objection or CRA is reviewing that year.
